Chimney scaffolding
Chimney work is one of the commonest reasons anybody hires a scaffold. A stack that needs repointing, re-flaunching, a new pot or a liner is at the highest and least reachable part of the building, and it is the one job where working off a ladder is both the tempting option and the wrong one.
What you need is a boarded, guardrailed platform at the right height, close enough to the stack to work on it comfortably, and a safe way up to it. That is what DDJ Scaffolding put up: scaffold platforms for roofline and chimney access, on houses of every shape across Reading and Berkshire. We erect the access. We do not do the chimney work itself, and the arrangement suits everybody: many of these scaffolds are put up for roofers and builders pricing their own jobs, and the ones that are not usually end with us recommending somebody.

What we need to know before quoting a chimney scaffold
A chimney scaffold sounds standard and rarely is. Four things decide what gets built:
Where the scaffold has to stand on a pavement or a road it needs a licence from the highway authority. We arrange that rather than leaving it with you. The rest of what we put up is on our scaffolding page.
What we ask about
- Where the stack sits: a gable end, a party wall or the middle of a pitched roof are three different builds
- What the ground is like: a level drive, a sloping garden, a flower bed or a pavement each change the base
- Whether we can stand on your land or have to take the footway, which needs a licence from the highway authority
- How long the scaffold is wanted for, and whether other trades will use it while it is up
